A few weeks ago I went on holiday to Brazil, only to return to an orchid left unwatered for 3 weeks, weeping.
Feeling very upset, and thinking I had killed it, I had two choices – to give up on it and throw it away, or to give it a little attention and see what would happen. I chose to treat it with love and time. Over the next few days I watered it a little, put it somewhere with sunlight and waited, patiently, not wanting to give up on it.
To my surprise, in only a few days it was back to its full blossom, looking stronger than I’d ever seen it. It now lights up my room and I am happy to be able to share this picture of how beautiful it looks.
This simple act reminded me of how important it is to nurture our relationships and how small acts can make a big difference. Giving a little of our time and dedication can sometimes be the medicine to rekindle what was once thought lost. Like my orchid, taking small steps can sometime help build something even stronger and more beautiful than ever.
